Russia deported 'taggers'
July 30, 2008Two young Norwegian men visiting Moscow last week were summarily deported, after Russian police caught them trying to break into a restricted area of the city's public transportation system. They reportedly were on the verge of spraypainting their "tags" on tram cars.
Reaction mixed after WTO talks collapse
July 30, 2008Norwegian farmers were jubilant on Wednesday. The collapse of talks at the World Trade Organization (WTO) means they get to keep their subsidies and avoid foreign competition. Norwegian consumers, however, are paying a high price to protect their farmers, and industrial and fishing interests are deeply worried.

Five Chechens arrested after attack on asylum centre
July 25, 2008Five men from Chechnya were arrested after an attack on reception centre for asylum seekers at Våler 45 kilometres southeast of Oslo. More than 20 people were injured, including an 11 year-old boy.
Bankruptcy rate climbs
July 25, 2008For the first time in years the bankruptcy rate in Norway has climbed. The 875 cases reported in the second quarter, were up 26.6 percent compared with the same period in 2007, according to Statistics Norway.
More tourists are coming but many are spending less
